What better way to celebrate Arbor Day than with a tree planting?! More than 100 volunteers from 10 different community organizations recently teamed up with city staff for a tree planting event at Montview Park.
The effort was led by Aurora's Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department and the city's Office of International and Immigrant Affairs. They regularly team up on tree planting events as part of the city's ongoing project called "Reinvesting in Aurora's Urban Canopy for Social Equity and Climate Resilience." The initiative's motto is "Greener Communities, Brighter Futures."
The project is funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service with a goal of planting 2,000 trees in Aurora through 2028.
