The City of Aurora hosted a ceremony recognizing April as National Donate Life Month.
Aurora has been a Donate Life community since 2022, when it became the first in the state and second in the nation to do so. The goal is to educate and inspire residents to become donors and save lives.
According to the state of Colorado, 68-percent of residents are signed up, well above the national average which sits below 60-percent.
Mayor Mike Coffman was instrumental years ago in passing legislation to recognize donors with the heart icon on Colorado drivers' licenses.
