In 2022, Aurora became the first city in Colorado and the second in the country to be designated as a Donate Life Community. It means we encourage all residents to consider becoming life-saving organ, eye and tissue donors.
One person who chooses to donate their organs can save up to eight lives and heal up to 75 others.
Donor Alliance shares the powerful story of a local, double heart transplant recipient to help promote their free, Transplantation Science class. It teaches students in grades 6–12 about organ, eye and tissue donation. The curriculum is aligned with Colorado and national science standards and is hands-on and interactive.
Teachers can schedule the program for their classrooms at no cost at: DonorAlliance.org/TransplantationScience.
