It's a day that stands out, but not in the way we want. This September marks the 25th anniversary of 9/11. 

The Colorado Freedom Memorial in Aurora hosted an event the night before to honor those lost. 

Nearly 3,000 people died that day, including 353 New York City firefighters. 

The event also recognized the 118 Colorado service members killed in the conflicts that followed in Iraq and Afghanistan.
