The City's TV Station
Training for the Unexpected
Start Time (in seconds)
End Time (in seconds)

The City of Aurora's Office of Emergency Management coordinated a citywide full-scale Hazardous Materials Spill Exercise to help prepare for a major emergency.

During the scenario, Aurora Police, Aurora Fire Rescue, and Aurora Water personnel responded to a simulated hazardous materials spill. The exercise tested how field responders collaborate with Emergency Operations Center staff made up of city leaders and technical experts. Teams practiced sharing information, coordinating resources, and making decisions as events unfolded.

The training helped strengthen communication, improve coordination between departments, and identify opportunities to enhance the City's response to future incidents.

Again, it was all part of a training exercise, and there were no real injuries. The fake patients in the scenario were all volunteer actors
