A team of dedicated nurses at HCA HealthOne Aurora is being recognized for making a difference in the lives of new moms. The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment has awarded the hospital a Celebrate 6 Award of Breastfeeding Excellence, highlighting its commitment to best practices that support healthy starts for babies.
The hospital follows key recommendations from the World Health Organization and UNICEF, including immediate skin-to-skin contact after birth and keeping moms and babies together 24/7 to support on-demand feeding.
“We want moms to feel confident and seen,” said Bonnie Gray, Manager of Women’s and Children’s Services. “This award shows we’re setting them up for success.”
The hospital’s lactation team supports mothers daily during their stay and continues offering help through a free weekly breastfeeding support group, open to all moms, no matter where they delivered.
