Zippy Parks Hammond
Start Time (in seconds)
End Time (in seconds)

Local legend, role model, trailblazer ... Zipporah Parks Hammond was all of these things and much more. Zippy, as she was known, was the first Black woman ever admitted to, and to graduate from, the University of Colorado School of Nursing in the 1940's. And that's just the beginning of her incredible, inspirational story that helped pave the way for future nurses. Special thanks to the CU College of Nursing, located on Aurora's Anschutz Medical Campus, for all their help with this story.
