The new Diverging Diamond Interchange at Picadilly and I-70 has reached substantial completion, and the city just held a grand opening ceremony to celebrate.

The DDI allows for safer and smoother traffic flow by reducing the number of left turns made. It will also feature advanced signal systems, improved lighting, and a new pedestrian and bicycle path.

Construction on the project began in 2023. Officials hope to have the Diverging Diamond fully operational in all directions by Thanksgiving, weather permitting.

The project was funded through a $25 million federal grant, along with additional funding from the city and the Aerotropolis Regional Transportation Authority.
