Youth gun violence is a growing crisis, not only in Aurora but across surrounding communities and even nationwide. It's an epidemic impacting major cities throughout the United States.
In response to the rising threat of youth violence and its devastating impact on local communities, Aurora’s leaders are taking action. In partnership with the U.S. Department of Justice, they have launched the Standing Against Violence Every Day (SAVE) program. This initiative is in the process of securing nearly $2 million in federal funding, a portion of which is being allocated to three local non-profits dedicated to supporting individuals aged 13 to 25 who are at risk of either committing a crime or falling victim to one.
One of these organizations, Hazelbrook, is playing a key role in this effort. AuroraTV offers an inside look at how one life coach there is using his past gang experience to make a real difference in the lives of young people trying to break the cycle of violence.
