An Aurora firefighter and his K9 have skills that help the city, and others across the country.

Lieutenant Jason Kester and his black lab Frank are members of Colorado Task Force 1, a team that helps in national emergencies.

Kester and Frank are certified as an Urban Search and Rescue K9 team, a position that takes rigorous requirements for both dog and handler.

“We work together to find live human beings in ruble piles or in wilderness, wherever people may be lost,” said Kester.
