What a difference a year makes! On this special edition of Aurora Now, we take a look back at the process of rebuilding Aurora Fire Station #9 from demolition day in March 2025 to the grand reopening in March 2026.
It's a big deal for any city to get a new fire house! That's why Aurora Fire Rescue and AuroraTV teamed up to document the many highlights along the way.
The original Station 9 opened nearly 50 years ago and had just one fire engine and a four-person crew. It's now a two-story, 12,000-square-foot building and much better equipped. It's also safer and more comfortable for the firefighters.
During construction, Engine 9’s crew continued serving the local community from their temporary base at Station 8. The $9.3 million project was funded primarily through the American Rescue Plan Act.
Regular episodes of Aurora Now will return soon. In the meantime, be sure to head to AuroraTV.org for more community news, stories and events, including a preview of 2026 Public Safety Field Day. You're invited to the free event on Saturday, May 16, at the City of Aurora Public Safety Training Center.
