For many people experiencing homelessness, finding support can feel overwhelming. The Aurora Regional Navigation Campus aims to change that by bringing services together under one roof, including shelter, mental health and substance use treatment, job resources and more.
In 2024, the Aurora City Council approved the purchase of the former Crowne Plaza Hotel near Interstate 70 and Chambers Road, transforming it into a centralized campus to help and house those in need.
The campus will operate under a three-tier system. The first tier offers low-barrier shelter for anyone seeking a safe place to stay. The second provides semi-private living for those working with case managers. The third tier is designed for individuals who are employed, allowing them to stay for up to two years while paying 30% of their income toward housing.
Residents will also have access to on-site job training, removing the need for transportation off-site.
City leaders say the goal is to help people move toward stability and self-sufficiency while addressing homelessness within the wider community.
