Founded in 2015, this family owned optometry practice focuses on serving immigrant residents originating from countries spanning the globe. Owner JK Joung says his family is deeply embedded in the community, both living in the area and with children in school nearby. So Envision Eye Care’s patients are not just numbers but people they see at the grocery store and at the recreation center. It’s precisely why they refuse to join a national chain. They are committed to the community, offering high-quality products and cutting-edge services at competitive prices, providing free eye exams and eyeglasses to nonprofit organizations like Jewish Family Medical Services and supporting immigrant patients on Medicare and Medicaid who have cataract issues. When the pandemic arrived, they quickly pivoted, revamping their website to offer e-commerce options and online appointments, boosting their social media presence and investing in additional health safety measures. This practice of only three employees—including the owner—continues to serve the underserved during the hardest of times, helping first- and second-generation immigrants who have been severely impacted by COVID-19. In the near future, they plan to expand their menu of services to meet the market’s demand and stay competitive.
