Creativity and innovation are two critical components to success in business, and CME Catering Services has epitomized these attributes since the company’s founding in 2014. Shortly after completing her education as a chef, owner Regina Edmonson started her business with a focus on serving nonprofits. It was an innovative approach given the lack of resources that nonprofits could turn to for upscale events. It also tapped into her passion for service and food. However, when the pandemic hit, the nonprofit meeting business dwindled. So, she pivoted during the toughest of times, creating a model to deliver to smaller groups of people who wanted catering for online board meetings. Boxed lunches were delivered to each person before the meeting so participants could eat together virtually despite being in different locations. As online lunch catering has slowed more recently, CME Catering Services is putting more emphasis on meal deliveries for families and providing meals to people in need through community organizations and churches. For instance, every year on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the company partners with Brother Jeff Cultural Center to distribute free meals at an Aurora library. New creative ideas for the future include a focus on offering personal chef services to customers. Edmonson’s business continues to thrive with the help of more than 20 people of all ages who help prep, cook and drive.
